First off, forgive me for the lack of photos on this one. I couldn’t take any while I was playing, for obvious reasons, and just snapped a few after because I wanted to get my thoughts down while they were still kind of fresh in my mind.
I’ll start at the end, at least the end of day one, with a result I am still struggling to mentally accept…

That’s me in second! Honestly, I went into this thinking I’d be really proud to be in the top ten, and with half of the tournament in the books, I’m in a podium position! I’m not quite sure how well that graphic came out, so I’ll include a results table provided by the amazing Lexy Amore (who put in a banging round herself).

I’m still kind of coming down from the rush of participating and my shockingly good result, but I’m going to try and not ramble too much with my thoughts.
I golfed with TransSandsPilot and Tali, both of whom were really sweet and supportive and fun – I really enjoyed the experience. Not only am I getting to spend a weekend golfing, I made two new friends.
So I’ve been trying to think about how to describe the tournament experience. I didn’t really have time to take notes so I could give a hole-by-hole breakdown of how my round went, nor was I really in a place where I could mentally divide my focus. I was doing math, making estimations, playing probabilities, looking over some practice round notes, and crossing my fingers and toes the whole time. It was stressful, it was exciting, it was difficult, it was exhilarating, and it was FUN.
I shot a 57, comprising three pars and 15 birdies. I’m incredibly proud of that round. That’s far and away my best round at Rainbow Valley, and I feel great about it. With my handicap of six, that put me at a 51 for the day. For a time my score was atop the leader board, but GinPhx shot a 58, netting a 48 after their handicap of ten.
My flight tees off tomorrow, September 15, at 8am SLT. I’ll be with Tali and TransSandsPilot for the second and final round of the SLympic Tournament at Rainbow Valley, and I just can’t wait!
Remember! The contest ends tomorrow (9/15)! You can win a TrueGolf Pro Pack or Caddy HUD (winner’s choice) just by entering a comment on the first post on the blog! I’ll draw a winner tomorrow evening!
