People Are Amazing

Thank You to Ima Tungsten for just being amazing and making my day

This one’s not really about golf, but it is something I want to write about. I promise, regular service will resume tomorrow (spoiler alert – Pimp My Golfboard II is coming up!).

So the winner of our last giveaway was Ima Tungsten (congrats, Ima!). I reached out to get in touch with her Sunday afternoon, and asked whether she wanted the Steelhead Golfboard or the gift card. After a little back and forth, she requested that I take the cost of her prize and donate it to the RFL kiosk.

I was positively stunned. At the risk of sounding a little overdramatic, it just brightened my whole self to be part of Ima’s absolute selflessness. Tearing up at my desk, I found myself reflecting on just how awesome the Relay for Life campaign in Second Life is, and how, sometimes, people can be awesome.

Thanks for brightening my Sunday afternoon. ♥ Also, the elf ears at freaking adorable.

There are probably some people who are saying, “Why are you making a big deal out of L$500? That’s like $3 US, if that.” Okay, you’re not wrong. You should also ask yourself if you would do the same if you won a L$500 gift card. I’m not sure that I would have, were I in her shoes, and, in my eyes, that makes it extraordinary and beautiful.

If you haven’t done so yet, I hope you’ll stop by Retribution Ridge during the Relay For Life campaign. They have great clothes for men and women available, with all of the proceeds going to RFL. I wore the top I bought from there while playing my first Winter Whack tournament round this morning, and it looked just fantastic. No lie, it’s super cute.

I’m still a bit speechless, but I hope that, should you cross paths with Ima, you’ll tell her thanks for being awesome.

Until next time, fairways and greens!
