My Ace at Ravenwood

This will be short, but I’m SO DARN EXCITED right now, I just couldn’t not write about it. On November 8, 2024 at 9:52 AM SLT, I shot a hole-in-one on the ninth hole at Ravenwood Shire Golf and Country. The main photo for this post includes my scorecard while sitting with B.J. D’Angelo…who brought coffee and donuts to celebrate!

Using TrueGolf, I shot a 5 wood (there was a fair bit of headwind) with a little backspin. I landed the shot on the green and got a bit lucky when it caught the side of the hole and circled in. There was a bit of fanfare from my PC the second before I grabbed a Gyazo and messaged it to my partner, Sam Daltrey.

This was part of my fourth round of the Ravenwood Shire Fall Classic. My first round was a truly tragic 66 that included a nonuple (I had to look that word up) bogey on the par 5 13th. It took me 14 strokes to complete that. Kind of the anti-hole-in-one. Maybe the golf gods and goddesses figured I was due.

My second and third rounds were significantly better, shooting a 59 and a 54. My 53 today (if my math is right, and it’s very possible it isn’t) puts me provisionally in the top ten, and I’m really happy with that. I entered the tournament knowing there were A LOT of much better golfers playing and a top ten performance just blows my expectations away. I’m really proud of it!

Thank you so much to B.J. and Lexy Amore who talked me out of my tree when I was just in an emotional rage after that 13th hole. They were both very sweet and understanding. You guys are awesome and I’m so happy to have you as friends and mentors.
